[64:6] 1 tn Heb “search out, examine,” which here means (by metonymy) “devise.”
[64:6] 2 tc The MT has תַּמְנוּ (tamnu, “we are finished”), a Qal perfect first common plural form from the verbal root תָּמַם (tamam). Some understand this as the beginning of a quotation of the enemies’ words and translate, “we have completed,” but the Hiphil would seem to be required in this case. The present translation follows many medieval Hebrew
[64:6] 3 tn Heb “a searched-out search,” which is understood as referring here to a thoroughly planned plot to destroy the psalmist.
[64:6] 4 tn Heb “and the inner part of man, and a heart [is] deep.” The point seems to be that a man’s inner thoughts are incapable of being discovered. No one is a mind reader! Consequently the psalmist is vulnerable to his enemies’ well-disguised plots.
[101:3] 5 tn Heb “I will not set before my eyes a thing of worthlessness.”
[101:3] 6 tn Heb “the doing of swerving [deeds] I hate.” The Hebrew term סֵטִים (setim) is probably an alternate spelling of שֵׂטִים (setim), which appears in many medieval Hebrew
[101:3] 7 tn Heb “it [i.e., the doing of evil deeds] does not cling to me.”
[104:14] 8 tn Heb “causes the grass to sprout up.”
[104:14] 9 tn Heb “for the service of man” (see Gen 2:5).
[104:14] 10 tn Heb “to cause food to come out from the earth.”
[104:25] 11 tn Heb “this [is] the sea, great and broad of hands [i.e., “sides” or “shores”].”
[104:25] 12 tn Heb “where [there are] swimming things, and without number.”
